She is the Vice-President of the Maples Foundation and the Maples Limited Liability Corp., which provides affordable senior housing for over 93 senior citizens in Charles County. Her knowledge of organizational development allowed her to develop the Regional Alzheimer's office in Southern Maryland, before establishing LifeStyles. All of these organizations collectively work together to provide thenecessary services and programs that residents need to improve their quality of life and well-being.
Mrs. Washington has received a number of gubernatorial appointments that includes the Judicial Nominating Committee. She also has received several awards: 2004 Charles County Sheriff's Award; 2005 Charles County Commission for Women Recognition Award; 2007 nominee for the Charles County Chamber of Commerce Working Woman of the Year; and, Charles County Commissioners' Nonprofits Grants Advisory Panel. She works closely with the local and state governmentagencies and community organizations. As part of her work with nonprofit organizations, her assistance has helped to acquire over $15 million.
During her local, state, and federal committee appointments, Ms. Washington has stayed close to the community and brings to the forefront the needs of the community with a special place in her heart for the elderly and children.
Sonie Jones, Human Services Case Coordinator:
Mrs. Sonie Jones is the Co-Founder and local Compassionate Center Director of LifeStyles. She received a bachelor's degree in Social Work and a Masters degree in SpecialEducation. As a Social Worker, her community service has been note worthy, raising funds for the homeless, mentoring youth and organizing events that strengthen families.
Mrs. Jones’ educational experience presented the opportunity to instruct classes that included deaf students, which encouraged her to obtain credits in sign language from Coppin University.
Her teaching experience consists of six years in Baltimore City and twenty-five years in Charles County. During her years of teaching,she was presented an exemplary teacher's award.
Twenty (20) of her thirty-one (31) years of teaching was not only dedicated to academics, but also to the arts. She brings extensive experience in curriculum development and training, assisting with such trainings on: “The Basics of Grant-Writing,” "The Business of Care Giving,” and the “Faith-Based Empowerment Series: Starting a Nonprofit Organization.
Dana Harty, Program Director:
Mr. Dana Harty is the Program Director for LifeStyles, including oversight of all human services and youth empowerment programs. Prior to LifeStyles, Mr. Harty worked in the property management field for 11 years. This capability will assist participating organizations in their research and development phase of securing facilities to operate their social service programs. His experience also includes working with the Baltimore City Police Department, implementing Neighborhood Watch programs, and the St. Mary’s County Mental Health Authority.
Mr. Harty is fluent in Spanish, which is vital as a result of an increasing Hispanic population.
Jerdean Branch, Human Services Specialist:
Ms. Jerry is LifeStyles’ Human Services Specialist, assisting those with the clothing closet and food pantry. She is part of the Maryland Senior Employment Program. Ms. Jerry formally worked for the Social Services in New York providing life skills training for clients. She also worked for Friends Home Care. Ms. Jerry retired from the New York Pilgrim State Hospital as a Mental Health Therapy Aide, providing direct care for elderly persons.
Corae Young, Support Services Director:
Ms. Corae Briscoe is the Support Services Director for LifeStyles and has a plethora of educational and work experience in business and technology operations. With a double Bachelors degree in Marketing and Sociology, and a Masters degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, she has gained the necessary knowledge needed to successfully provide administrative and technical support. Ms. Briscoe has been certified in all Microsoft Windows operating system applications. She has extensive client business database capabilities, such as scope of services, demographics, and registration services. She also has experience in grant and contract research, writing, and preparation. Ms. Briscoe has experience in website development and Human Resources management systems.
Brenda Nussberger, Program Coordinator, Support Services:
Ms. Brenda Nussberger is LifeStyles’ Program Coordinator for Support Services, and provides initial services with all persons who contact our organization. She provides initial assessment and screening, providing referral information and direction for clients in need of emergency assistance. She assists with receptionist, data entry, and client assessment support, as well as assisting with administrative services, i.e., appointment scheduling, volunteer coordination. Prior to LifeStyles, Ms. Nussberger worked at the Center for Life Enrichment, providing direct care for persons with disabilities.
Meagan Paulk, Volunteer Maryland Coordinator:
Mrs. Meagan Paulk is the Volunteer Maryland Coordinator for LifeStyles. She came to LifeStyles in October 2009 from Volunteer Maryland, as an Americorps member to serve at LifeStyles until August 2010. Volunteer Maryland is an agency working out of the Governor’s office in Baltimore, MD connecting Volunteer Coordinators to non-profit organizations all across Maryland. Meagan is working to create and maintain a successful volunteer program here at LifeStyles. Meagan received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in Public Health in December 2008. Her education and work experience as a health educator makes her an ideal candidate to manage LifeStyles’ volunteer program.
